Khalid’s breakout year continues.
Following the success of his debut album, American Teen, which soared to No. 9 on the Billboard 200 earlier this year, the R&B crooner digs into his influences for a special cover of Frank Ocean’s “Lost.”
Performing the track as part of BBC Radio 1’s “Piano Sessions,” Khalid broke into the somber single off channel ORANGE. “Now you’re lost,” he sang. “Lost in the heat of it all / Girl, you know you’re lost / Lost in the thrill of it all / Miami, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Spain, lost / Los Angeles, India, lost on a train, lost.”
Not stopping there, Khalid also performed “Location” for BBC. Accompanied by an acoustic guitar player and a pianist, the buzzing star performed his top 20 smash, which peaked at No. 16 on the Hot 100 this year.
Last night, Khalid and Bibi Bourelly shut down the Santa Monica Pier as part of the Twilight Concert Series. “Around 60,000 people came out to Santa Monica to see me last night at the free show,” wrote a grateful Khalid. “The Staples Center holds 21,000 people. Holy fuck. From 60 listeners on SoundCloud to 60,000 supporters who would go out of their way, drive 4 hours and sit in traffic afterwards. Insane.”
