Ty Dolla $ign is back at his Beach House. The California crooner has unleashed “Love U Better,” the first single off Beach House 3 featuring Lil Wayne and The-Dream.
The DJ Mustard and Twice as Nice-produced slapper kicks off with a sped-up vocal sample. “Girl, you should know that I can love you better than he can,” sing King Dream and Dolla, pulling inspiration from Mary J. Blige and Lil’ Kim’s 1997 classic “I Can Love You.”
Ty sings about his chemistry and similarities to The-Dream during his verse, as well. “Pull up on your girl with the heat on,” he sings. “She ain’t know if it’s a Dolla or a Dream song.”
Vocals drenched in Auto-Tune, Lil Weezy comes through midway to spit a verse on the infectious track. “Pull up on her in an Uber,” he raps. “That’s how I maneuver / Turn this D into a D plus and I’m her tutor / Turn a B into a D cup, hallelujah!”
“Love U Better” is the lead single off Ty’s upcoming sophomore album, Beach House 3, which is actually the fourth Beach House release. The first two projects in the series — 2012’s Beach House and 2013’s Beach House 2 — dropped as mixtapes. The third, Beach House, arrived as an EP in 2014.
