Lil B is back with Black Ken, a 27-song project that arrived without warning on Thursday (Aug. 16).

The release was even a surprise to the Berkeley native, who shared his dismay on Twitter just one day before his 28th birthday.

“WOW SAD DAY YALL,” he wrote. “DATPIFF STOLE MY MIXTAPE AND THEN LOCKED ME OUT OF MY DATPIFF PROFILE..AND UPLOADED BLACK KEN WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE.”

In any case, Black Ken has made its way to other streaming platforms and is available now. It includes a guest spot from iLoveMakonnen on “Global,” marking the album’s only feature.

The Based God’s fury regarding the album’s release didn’t last long. Hours later, he celebrated its success. “History,” he tweeted. “LIL B HAS THE #1 hip hop album on iTunes right now!!!!! Yes that’s the #1 hip hop album in the world! Black Ken! Be apart.”

Lil B was also gracious a few hours later, when he was dethroned on the quickly-shifting chart. “Congrats to jay z and Roc nation for 4:44 being the #1 hip hop album on iTunes,” he wrote. “Lil B black Ken mixtape is #2 hip hop on iTunes!!”
