Rodney “Doughboy Roc” Yeargin, a rapper from the Doughboyz Cashout crew, was reportedly shot and killed in his hometown of Detroit on Monday (Oct. 9), according to the local CBS affiliate.

Although police have yet to confirm his identity, reports indicate that it was Yeargin, who was shot in the right ear and right shoulder, and pronounced dead on the scene. A suspect has not been identified.

Fellow Detroit MC Big Sean took to Twitter to mourn his loss. “RIP Doughboy Roc,” he tweeted. “Bless his Soul, his family n Doughboyz Cashout. We gotta do better.”

Fans also responded to the apparent death of Yeargin. “Everybody was so surprised,” a local resident said, according to the report. “They couldn’t believe that someone they knew from the neighborhood, who also is famous and young, had been found dead in his car.”

Doughboyz Cashout formed in 2006. In between a string of legal troubles, including a 2010 conviction for felony firearms, Roc released a series of projects, including his latest offering, Roc Vs Balboa, which dropped in September.
