Shortly after surviving a shooting in Hollywood, Young Dolph uses the experience as the inspiration for his new “Believe Me” video.

The visual kicks off on a grim note, as it recounts news reports from the shooting. Then, Dolph can be seen inside of the hospital, recovering from the blasts that left him with non-life-threatening injuries.

However, things take a turn from there. Once Dolph is wheeled out of the hospital, he goes home and hangs out with his son and daughter.

“It’s a personal ass song about what I’m dealing with, my inner life, feelings, about close friendships disintegrating over some bullshit,” he told Billboard. “You can hear it in the second verse, the song is about family and morals. You either get life or you don’t. When I was recording the song, I knew I had to have my kids in the video, the only difference is that I shot it in California instead of Memphis or Atlanta. This has nothing to do with the shooting.”

Following “While U Here,” “Believe Me” is a single off Dolph’s forthcoming album Thinking Out Loud. Featuring Gucci Mane, Ty Dolla $ign, 2 Chainz, and DRAM, the effort is due Oct. 20.
