The artist currently known as Vic Mensa wants to star as Prince in a biopic.
During an interview with Montreality, the Roc Nation rapper opened up about his dream role. “I think I should play Prince in the biopic,” he said. “Prince is one of my biggest idols of all time, and he’s the real King of Pop. Some people will be mad that I said that.”
After dressing up as the late Purple One for Halloween, Vic believes he has what it takes to make it happen. “The reason why I’d be able to kill the role as Prince is because I got that mouthpiece,” he added. “Prince was butter smooth with it and I feel like I could do it.”
Elsewhere during the interview, Vic also opened up about the tension between his mentor JAY-Z and collaborator Kanye West. “Nobody likes [the tension],” he said. “I don’t think they like it. That’s the delicate thing about male ego and relationships go through that, all relationships…The real relationships live past it, as I believe Kanye and Hov’s relationship 100 percent has and will.”
In support of his debut album The Autobiography, Mensa is currently on the “4:44 Tour” with Jigga. The trek is set to continue through Dec. 21 in Los Angeles.
