Shortly after parting ways with the animated “Deadpool” series, Donald Glover posted a mock script for the canceled show. Taking to Twitter on Wednesday (March 28), the actor-writer-rapper revealed page after page of snarky commentary.
“For the record,” he tweeted, “I wasn’t too busy to work on ‘Deadpool.'” He then revealed several pages of a freshly-written script. It contains references to Beyoncé’s biting mystery, 6ix9ine’s legal troubles, Sudan, the last male northern white rhino who died recently, and even the show’s cancelation.
“I’m not mad about this whole ‘canceled’ thing,” Deadpool says at one point in the script. “I actually think it’s a good thing. I mean, is it even a good time to have a violent, gun loving white man ranting on TV? Other than the PRESIDENT!”
He later wonders if racism had something to do with show’s cancelation. “Do you think they canceled the show because of racism?!” he asks. “Yeah, all the writers were black. The references were pretty black, too. I heard they went over lunch budget ordering Jamaican food at least once a week.”
In the script, Deadpool goes on to say that “Marvel was trying to sell toys to seven year old boys and fifty year old pedophiles.” He also claims that the show had a Taylor Swift episode. “I think our show woulda been funny,” he laments. “I just wanted a place to be honest. And I guess that place is Freeform.”
FX canceled the show on Saturday. “Due to creative differences, FX, Donald Glover, Stephen Glover, and Marvel Television have agreed to part ways on Marvel’s ‘Deadpool’ animated series,” the network said (via Deadline). “FX will no longer be involved with the project.”
Sources say that Marvel was not on board with the Glovers brothers’ vision. FX reportedly sided with the Glovers and pulled out of the project as a result. Read the full script, titled “Finale,” below.
