Kendrick Lamar leads the nominations for the 2019 Grammy Awards.
The Compton rapper earns eight nominations at the 61st annual ceremony, including Album of the Year for the Black Panther soundtrack. “All the Stars” is up for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Rap/Sung Performance, and Best Song Written for Visual Media.
Lamar is also nominated for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song for “King’s Dead” alongside Jay Rock, Future, and James Blake. He earned an additional nod for Best Rap Song for co-writing Jay Rock’s “Win.”
Drake follows with seven nominations including Album of the Year for Scorpion and Record of the Year and Song of the Year for “God’s Plan.”
Other multiple nominees include Boi-1da with six apiece and Childish Gambino, H.E.R., and Cardi B with five each. The latter is nominated for Album of the Year and Rap Album of the Year for her debut Invasion of Privacy, as well as Record of the Year for “I Like It,” her collaboration with Bad Bunny and J Balvin.
In the Best New Artist category, the nominees include Chloe x Halle, Luke Combs, Greta van Fleet, H.E.R., Dua Lipa, Margo Price, Bebe Rexha, and Jorja Smith.
The Carters score three nominations for their joint album Everything Is Love, including Best Urban Contemporary Album, Best R&B Performance (“Summer”), and Best Music Video (“Apes**t”).
The late Mac Miller received his first Grammy nomination in the Best Rap Album category for his album Swimming, which will compete against Cardi B’s Invasion of Privacy, Nipsey Hussle’s Victory Lap, Pusha-T’s Daytona, and Travis Scott’s ASTROWORLD.
To be eligible, recordings must have been released between Oct. 1, 2017, and Sept. 30, 2018. The 61st Annual Grammy Awards will air live from Los Angeles’ Staples Center on Sunday, Feb. 10, at 8 p.m. on CBS.
