Wish wish. Fresh off the release of his album Father of Asahd, DJ Khaled joins Will Smith on a remake of the Aladdin classic “Friend Like Me.”
Smith, who plays the Genie in Disney’s live-action reboot of the 1992 animated film, rubs his lamp and puts a modern spin on the Oscar-nominated track, originally performed by Robin Williams. “You can wish to be rich / You can wish to be tall / You can wish away the haters, you just give me a call,” raps Smith before telling Aladdin to “flex on ’em, shine on ’em, style on ’em, slide on ’em.”
Khaled plays hypeman to Smith’s Genie with his signature ad libs. “You ain’t never had a friend like me,” says Smith before Khaled responds, “Never!”
The soundtrack, composed by Alan Menken, is available now and also features ZAYN and Zhavia Ward’s cover of “A Whole New World.”
Aladdin hits theaters Friday.
