Mathew Knowles is opening about his battle with breast cancer.
For the first time, Beyoncé and Solange’s father reveals his diagnosis and fight against the disease during a sit-down interview with ABC’s “Good Morning America,” which will air in full on Wednesday. In a teaser, which was tweeted by “GMA,” host Michael Strahan asks Knowles how his family reacted to the news.
“How was it to tell your family about the diagnosis?” Strahan asks the 67-year-old entrepreneur.
In addition to his daughters and Destiny’s Child, Knowles used to manage the careers of Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams as part of his Music World Entertainment empire. The family reportedly had a fallout years ago, but Knowles denies there was any bad blood. “These dangerous rumors defame my family name,” he told “Entertainment Tonight” in 2015. “They have no validity and hold no merit.”
Knowles, who separated from his wife Tina Knowles Lawson in 2011, reunited with Beyoncé on last year’s “On the Run II Tour.” Tina posted photos of her and her ex-husband kissing their daughter backstage at the final show at Seattle’s CenturyLink Field in October 2018.
Despite his breast cancer diagnosis, Mathew maintains a busy career. In July, he became Chief Marketing Officer of Bangi Inc., which acquires and leases specialized real estate for cannabis and hemp farms.
