DMX is apologizing to Lloyd Banks.
While speaking with Fatman Scoop on Instagram Live, the DJ and rapper discussed their favorite lyricists. Scoop listed off his faves, but when he mentioned Banks, X questioned his choice.
“Lloyd Banks? Lyricist?” X asked, according to Complex. “Quote four bars. Impress me with four bars of his. It shouldn’t be hard.”
After getting word of his comments, Banks took to Twitter to explain why he thinks DMX questioned his lyrical ability. “So because I didn’t come to the studio to work when HE reached out..I’m not that good?” he wrote, while revealing that he missed their studio session because he had a flight to catch.
X realized he made a mistake and confused Banks for his former G-Unit groupmate Tony Yayo. Taking to Instagram Stories, he apologized, while also taking a shot at Yayo.
“It takes a real ni**a to admit when he’s wrong,” he wrote over a screenshot of Banks’ tweets. “My apologies to loyd banks I was thinking tony yayo when I was asked about banks. I fuck with banks!”
X has been in the headlines recently after he said he wants to challenge JAY-Z to a Verzuz battle. Eminem has reportedly offered to face off against X, but X has his sights on JAY.
