Summer Walker and Usher teamed up for a sizzling performance at the 2020 BET Awards.
Seated against a pink-skied projection screen, a barefoot Summer kicked things off with a stripped-down performance of “Session 32” while playing guitar. She then segued into Usher’s classic “U Make Me Wanna,” which she sampled on her Over It hit “Come Thru.” She was later joined by her collaborator himself, who maintained his social distance on his own blue stage setup alongside Summer’s. He eventually made his way onto her set while they put it down with their dreamy duet.
The performance earned praise from their peers including Trey Songz, who tweeted, “Go Summer!”
Summer was nominated for two awards at Sunday’s show including Best New Artist and Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, but lost to Roddy Ricch and Lizzo. Usher also lost Best Male R&B/Pop Artist to Chris Brown.
Summer has been teasing a new EP, while Usher recently dropped his emotional song “I Cry” in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.
