Big Sean linked up with Canadian newcomer Aleesia on set her video for “Kiss It Bye Bye,” the first U.S. single from her debut Girl Talk. The 21-year-old singer, who cites Beyoncé as her career idol, stopped at a diner and cruised through the streets of Burbank, Calif., with the Detroit rapper riding shotgun.
“It’s a girl power song, but it’s also very relatable,” said Aleesia of the Stereotypes production. “It’s just about someone taking you for granted and not treating you the way that you should be treated as a woman.”
During a visit to the set, Sean explained how the collaboration came together. “I thought it was a cool song, so I said why not?” he told Rap-Up TV. “She seems like a real dope artist. It was a pleasure to hop on it, add my little eight bars to it. She does look pretty good, so that’s an added bonus.”
Aleesia has been in the studio with hitmakers such as Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins and Bangladesh, along with some notable Canadian producers. “It’s a huge variety of sounds, but at the same time, it really defines who I am as an artist,” she said of her album.
