Hit-Boy has been a busy man since producing Jay-Z and Kanye West’s monstrous single “Ni**as in Paris.” The Inland Empire hitmaker has racked up credits for everyone from Rihanna to Justin Bieber and is now pursuing a solo career with the release of his free album HITstory.
He is also working on the G.O.O.D. Music compilation Cruel Summer. Fresh off the release of the single “Clique,” which he helmed, Rap-Up TV caught up with Hit-Boy on the red carpet at the BMI Urban Awards where he addressed the project’s release date and reported tracklisting.
Another collaboration he is especially excited about is with Kendrick Lamar. “It’s fresh, it’s club, it’s hip-hop,” he said of his work with the Compton MC.
The producer-turned-rapper is currently a free agent, but has a lot of people knocking on his door including Jay-Z. “I got to play the album for Hov and he asked me for a copy on the spot, so that was just an accomplishment in itself.”
