In Part 2 of our interview with J. Cole, the Roc Nation star explains how he finally decided on the title of his debut album Cole World: The Sideline Story after weighing several options.
“I actually wanted to do Cole World for the second album title, but by the time people started suggesting it, it just kinda went all the way out the window,” he told Rap-Up TV. “When I came up with an album title that I actually liked, it was The Sideline Story. But it felt incomplete. I felt like, ‘Oh man, let’s make it a series and make Cole World the Star Wars [with sub-titles].’ Cole World is something that my fans recognize and they love and I love it too.”
The “Work Out” rapper went in the studio with Stargate and Shea Taylor, but No I.D., Danja, and Brian Kidd will make the final cut come September 27. He also has a song picked out for Jay-Z, which he produced, and is just waiting for his mentor to bless it with a verse.
Additionally, Trey Songz appears on another record. “That song is a very, very good song and it’s fun,” shared Cole.
