Meek Mill has become one of hip-hop’s biggest success stories of 2012, and he’s riding the high into the new year. Fresh off the stage at Power 106s Cali Christmas, Rap-Up TV spoke with the Maybach Music MC about his incredible year, his favorite albums of 2012, what he thinks of hip-hop sensation Trinidad James, and getting acknowledged by his peers including T.I.
“We come from real places and the things I’m rapping about he probably can seriously relate to. That’s my homie,” said Meek, who collaborated with Tip on “G Season” off Trouble Man: Heavy Is the Head.
The Philly native revealed his favorite albums of 2012, which include Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d city and 2 Chainz’ Based on a T.R.U. Story.
Trinidad James also received his stamp of approval. “He spittin’ that fire right now. He’s shinin’, he’s livin’, he’s buzzin’ fast. He’s doing his thing,” said Meek of the “All Gold Everything” hitmaker.
While Dreams and Nightmares is still burning up the airwaves, Meek is already at work on his second album. And will there be a Self Made, Vol. 3 compilation? Find out what he had to say.
