Ty Dolla $ign has had an incredible year, and he’s looking forward to an even bigger 2015. The “Paranoid” hitmaker is planning a March/April release for his long-awaited debut Free TC. But the project, named after his brother who is behind bars, represents more than just an album.
“It’s for a purpose,” the Taylor Gang member told Rap-Up TV. “He’s locked up for something that he didn’t do. It’s many people out here that get injustice, as you’ve seen Mike Brown, Trayvon Martin, everything that’s happening on the news right now. It has a purpose. It’s gonna be the biggest album of 2015.”
The Diplo and DJ Dahi-produced first single “Stand For” is already gaining spins, and he’s assembled an all-star roster of talent including Jagged Edge, YG, Wiz Khalifa, and R. Kelly, who appears on a record called “Actress.”
“It’s definitely a jam and I can’t wait to see what it does out here in these streets,” he said.
His fellow Cali native Kendrick Lamar also guests on the aptly-titled “L.A.” “It’s like an anthem for L.A. It’s gonna be crazy,” he said. “Kendrick is the homie and I hope I can get on his new project.”
Following the album’s release, Ty plans to embark on his “Free TC” tour.
