Holiday’s debut song, most of Ciara’s new material, Britney and Madonna’s Me Against the Music, a lot of material on Mary J. Bliges Growing Pains album and Usher’s Moving Mountains, Trading Places and This Ain’t Sex. The Dream doesnt need beyonce to record his songs but he has always maintained that she’s a genious in the studio in how she takes a simple song that you wrote and then turns it into a masterpiece!! Beyonce is one of the best pure vocalists of this era. Stacking anyone’s voice against hers isn’t going to look good. But this version is dope, and Dream’s actually got a nice voice. Sure he can’t riff and run like B, but you gotta look past those as standards of judging. He’s got unique tone, crazy harmonies, and TONS of emotion. While he may not win any technical awards, saying he’s not a good singer shows a very narrowsighted understanding of vocals.

How but do you all wanna bet even though everything is the same, lyrics, melody & most of the arrangement, her name will still appear in the credits?

Siedah Garrett, who co-wrote Man in the mirror with Glen Ballard…said Michael jackson had o much input in that song that he should have taken a co-writing credit. But MICHAEL FREAKING JACKSON refused..because he did not think him re arranging the song, helping add a longer bring, changing words was the same as writing billie Jean. So he refuse all credits.

Siedah Garrett herself said he should have…he deserved it ….

That is why I love this man…a genuine artist who respected other artists and not take credit for their art.

I like dreams version better just more flowing. Its just a demo if he sung it forreal it would sound better. Thissound like a Alicia Keys song too tho

I like The Dreams version. I think Beyonce yells too much and pushes it too much. She should’ve sing it like Ave Maria of You’re my roc. A lil’ bit lower. She has a low voice, you can hear it on the writing on the wall album. I think that sounded so nice, but for some reason she thinks she has to yell. For everyone saying she has a strong voice, powerful. Sorry, but listen to Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Tina Turner etc, then you’ll know what a strong voice is and how it sounds. She took co-writing credits, because she changed lying by you to lying right next to you. She needs demo’s because she can’t read music notes. She never wrote a song. The award was a mistake because they didn’t know that she only changed a few words. Thats why she was scrapped as songwriter for crazy in love. I like be as entertainer and I love a lot of music of her, but I’m not going to defend her by laying. Her performances a great, she has the right songs, the right clothes, right dances etc. but there is are whole team. Her talent is entertaining/performing, not singing, writing etc. and that doesn’t matter, because these days it sells to be a entertainer not just a singer.

Wow, amazing. I didn’t know that The Dream wrote this. He is SUCH a talented song-writer. So, so, so talented. I don’t think that his version of the song (singing-wise) is anywhere near as good as Beyonce’s. But it is just a demo. It’s just that Beyonce is a really, really talented woman who sounds so emotional live. She nails it every time. Dream has a poppish voice. But I like that they both kinda stay in their lanes and he lets Queen B sing the beautiful songs that he writes. Awesome duo. IDK what man would sing this well. I’m seeing mentions of R. Kelly. But I think Maxwell would punish it, forget R. Kelly. I think it’s obvious that Beyonce sings this song better than the Dream, but to deny the Dream his shine is just absurd. He is amazing for writing this and many of the other beautiful songs he has written for our favorite artists over the years.

This is absolutely a beautiful-beautiful song. This is my new anthem. Thanks for posting the demo version! I love Dream’s vocals on this. LOVE!

I would love to hear Maxwell or D’Angelo do their own versions.
