JoJo captivated listeners with her risqué remix to “Marvin’s Room,” and now Teyana Taylor releases her emotional response to Drake’s song. On the fragile remake, a heartbroken Teyana sings away her sorrows, but finds the strength to move on from an ex-boyfriend who left her for another girl.

“Fuck that new girl that you love so bad/ I know you still think about the times we had/ I said fuck that new girl that you think you found/ But you’re calling me even when she’s around,” she sings, borrowing harmonies from Lauryn Hill’s “Ex-Factor.”

Jojo’s version was better, however Teyana’s version was dope because she actually utilized the entire original track. That Lauryn Hill “Ex-factor” add on was brilliant. An added plus is that her & Drake dated before… So it alludes to an ideal… I can’t wait until she really gets serious about her own album & stop singing back vocals for others [Kanyé!].

Can someone explain to me the different perspectives? The general consesus is that all three singers (drake, jojo, teyana) are offering differing ideas but really they’re all getting drunk and calling their exes,trying to get them back and telling them what they’re missing so what is this buisness about a boy’s perspective vs a girl’s?? It all sounds the same to me. Each version is dope though!

Both Jojo and Teyana approached the song differently…jojo was kinda angry and a lil bitter in her version, and teyana was more vonerable and sad and very emotional! bothe were very good and u could def. see the emotion. but in my opinoin teyana had more soul and more passion nd u could literally hear the pain coming from her voice. nd i liked that teyana went beyond the song. #jussMyOpinion

STOP REMAKING THIS SONG!!!! What do these no-name irrelevant & homely chicks just sit around and wait on Drake to tell his story so they can jump on his track and milk it for themselves????

I could see if this had been out a second, but damn, it came out two weeks ago!!!

The only version that really made me tear up was Drake’s. It’s his story–HE RECORDED IT AT MARVIN’S ROOM (studio) and it belongs to a longer narrative he’s going to tell when HIS CD DROPS.

So, when Take Care drops, will people try & “remake” his entire CD with their own lyrics? LMAOOOO I can’t!

J. Cole dropped/leaked music every two days. Why haven’t these women remade his songs? Or Big Sean? Just goes to prove that Drake is that dude. He deserved his songwriting award.

I like Teyana’s voice way better than JoJo’s… But lyrically this was a joke. This version had more class. And JoJo’s voice just reminds me of a thirteen-year-old, not saying she can’t sing, she can. But she doesn’t touch me. Teyana’s voice has so much more depth. Prefer this over JoJo’s.

2) People that know anything about singing would know that JoJo out sang TT (ran circles around her). The control in JoJo’s voice while evoking emotion was insane. TT’s runs are FLAT. Her tone is nice but the singing is not good at all…TRUST

2)JoJo’s version was so good because she cussed. Thats all she did. She didn’t change it up and make it her own like Teyana did. She stuck to the original melodies, etc. Teyana’s singing is raw, not reverbed and very rich

I’ve just read through a lot of the comments, and I think people are entitled to their opinions. I think they’re both very good, and I agree with some of the perspectives that Jojo was vampin’, and TT is cryin’. Both very good versions of the song, but TT had more soul in hers. The homage to my girl Lauryn Hill was a nice twist. I didn’t even know she could even sing, I just thought she was some spoiled brat from “my sweet sixteen!” Quietly surprised!

For the record: JoJo was never dropped from a label so no failure there. Her last album sold millions around the world (actually both of her albums did). Her last single went to #1. Her mixtape got a lot of love and she been acting while sorting out her label drama.

It sounds like TT has a lot going on too so everybody who is being so negative with the low blows need to chill the f*ck out. They got more going on than you HATERS!

P.S. – both versions are good but I like JoJo’s. There is something about that girl that makes me connect with her.

Jojo’s sounded the EXACT same. she didnt do nothin “original” to the song, but sound like a dirty sloppy hoe! but i still like Jojo. And it also depends on where you are with your ex. Some people are still hurt over the situation with their ex and some are not. thats just it!!! some can relate more to jojo’s or T’s. and i NEVER said jojo’s was BAD i just prefer T’s.

I like all 3 versions. However I gravitate to both jojo’s and teyana’s version. Yes, jojo is the better vocalist (my opinion) and had clever lyrics, but teyana surprised me. I didn’t know she could even sing. She had clever lyrics too and she went ham at the end. I like both perspectives and can identify with both. Stop making this a contest becuz at the end of the day its drake’s track so it’s pointless. We can’t compare youtube views becuz on rapup people listened to jojo’s version through youtube and as y’all can see we are listening to teyana’s version through a different player. It’s fine to have an opinion, but you don’t have to disrespect these people while you do it.

Jojo can sing but she just changed the words up a lil and kept Drake’s melodies, etc. Teyana flipped that shit and killed it point blank.
The Lauryn Hill runs at the end was deep.

It wasn’t about a good vocal at that point. And if you watched Teyana’s Ustream where she explained this, she said that. It was raw and she was crying when she recorded that part.

Jojo’s was straight vocals and profanity so it had shock factor.

@Mark London, I agree with you…it is Drake’s track and melody so he should get the props! I read in an interview that Jo Jo said, her version was to honor Drake and his inspiring artistry. I don’t think she did her remix for any other reason. Now, these other artists…..IDK. They shooting videos & all like this is their record.

I personally love Jojo’s. it’s more catchy and more how can i say this…inspiring. Teyana’s is like a little girl crying for he boyfriend (no hate). i respect TT though and her lyrics are good. but her vocals are way off. Jojo can sing her butt off. but hats off to both ladies for taking a stand.

Teyana Taylor did a good job as well, but I personally did not like the Lauryn Hill ending. I thought it was too much for this simple yet sensual beat. To be honest I don’t think that JoJo kept it 100 when she sung this song. She can BLOW so this track wasn’t nothing for her comparing to her other songs…
