@Cranberry, Yeah whatever… Just like most people’s guesses and theory. Bringing Chris up in every post you see keeps him relevant. What part of that do you twats not comprehend? Do you know he would’ve been long gone by now, if you people would stop caring so much about what he says/does? But I guess he has people like you to thank for that for the most part. An invisible hand is never far away.

i personally anticipated that orange record channel or what ever that was. no offence but the harmonies were greater than this here but im sure his project will be well balanced. he’s dope

    [Reply]

    freshed Reply:

@freshed, *spoke too soon, its heard around the 5 minute mark* i guess thats the downfall in having 10 minute records. Listeners jump to conclusions quickly

    [Reply]

    Ice Reply:

@freshed, ^ This. The second half sounds like it could be the radio edit, the first part is more experimental.

    [Reply]

  16. Yaasss

    This is weak.

    [Reply]

  17. eqfwoi

this is just 2 songs joined together.

    [Reply]

  18. Ice

The second half sounds radio friendly, the first 5 minutes sounds like an interlude.

    [Reply]

  19. @DrewShane

I like the song at the end better than the first much, much, much better. Still a good listen

  21. Hugh

  22. Speechless

I’m a little confused. Why did he do from extremely short songs to extremely long ones? And this really does sound like 2 songs put together.

    [Reply]

  23. Michelle

His be writing his ass off.

    [Reply]

  24. johnnieboy

Frank should cut the song in half, with the second half being a cool ass radio track

    [Reply]

  25. Wozzle

It’s funny how everyone always use to say his songs were too short now he makes a long one he still gets criticised. No pleasing some people.

    [Reply]

    Miszi Reply:

@Wozzle, Well I prefer 9 minute track over the ones that had barely 2 minutes. Though everything the guy makes is magic.

    [Reply]

    Sean Reply:

    @Wozzle, PREEEEEERAAAAACH!!!

    [Reply]

    Mentamir Reply:

@Wozzle, it’s because he went to the other side of the spectrum this time. I don’t think he purposely put out a long track, though. If he wanted to cater to people’s demands of a longer track, he would have been smart enough to realize the average person holds an attention span of 3 to 5 minutes tops, when it comes to songs. It’s not like the “criticism”, if you want to call it that, comes out of the blue. Nine minutes is a very long time and not every person likes to listen to the same track for that long. I personally didn’t have a problem with it, but I can see why others would have.

    [Reply]

    CleoJam Reply:

@Wozzle, I prefer a longer song, because if it’s almost 10 minutes long and still great, it’s obviously a classic. Longer songs show more talent, and with sound like this, Frank should blow up this year.

I fucking love Frank Ocean!!! This man is a damn genius!!!

  28. Jilly

Im curious to see if people who claim it sounds as if it’s two separate songs actually listened.
The change up at 5:23 is a turn in narrative.. Listen to the lyrics and you’ll realize that the overall concept/execution is pulled off exceptionally. It’s referencing the exploitation of women (Black women to be specific). The cynicism towards the system that exploits them is apparent in paralleling Cleopatra, Queen of the Nile with a nameless vixen who is only Queen of the Pole…
Frank is an EXTREMELY intelligent guy

    [Reply]

    Cable Reply:

    @Jilly, YES YES YES!

    [Reply]

    Jilly Reply:

@Cable, Why are people so slow/unwilling to listen… I worry about my generation when folks have zero attention span and are adamant their media fits such a basic form. :0\

    [Reply]

    CleoJam Reply:

@Jilly, Especially to talent like Frank Ocean. I swear, people need to realise that thsi goes beyond music. Frank and The Weeknd should make a song together

This is absolutely AMAZING!!! Sooooo different and fresh … The first part is cool but I LOOOVEEE how it slows down in the second part… When the bass drops >>>>>

    [Reply]

  32. maya

It always takes me a minute to understand wtf he’s talking about b/c he has such clever word play in his lyrics but all I can say about this song is that it’s AMAZING.

He could’ve kept it simple & called the girl a hoe but the fact that he uses different analogies in his music to express a situation is great. Looking forward to 7/17!

  33. MH

I never know what the hell Frank Ocean is singing about in his songs. He has an amazing voice and I really want to like him but I can’t connect with his music.

    [Reply]

    Miles Reply:

@MH, the song is basically about a stripper

    [Reply]

    Jilly Reply:

@Miles, If that’s all you took away from the song, your not listening.

    [Reply]

    Miles Reply:

@Jilly, I know its more than that. I’m summing it up though. it’s simply about a stripper

    [Reply]

    The only comment Reply:

@Miles, Not really about a stripper but a prostitute. “She works on the pyramids” means she works on a D. The text gots reference to queen Cleopatra on old Egypt and the relation between this girl and a customer.

    [Reply]

    Neickha Reply:

@MH,really? I know some of his songs use metaphors and what not but I dont think they’re hard to interpret.

    I’ve got one interrogation,

the album will come on july 17th???

It will be cool but it means that it will be the first album to come with only 1 month of promo???

Even an album from DefJam like Rick Ross got more than 2 months between the annoucement of the release date and the relaese date, so wait and see if this will be push back

Song cool btw. Lot of meaning in this

    [Reply]

  44. Mentamir

It sounds nice, but I am having a hard time understanding all the words and understanding the meaning behind them. But you can still sense the amount of emotion put into his music, whether you understand the meaning or not and capturing emotion like that shows of true craftsmanship for me. So, I will have to listen to it a couple of more times, to fully understand what the song is about, but overall it’s a good listen.
