New Music: Nicole Scherzinger – ‘On the Rocks’

On the Rocks

After igniting the dance floor with her first single “Your Love,” Nicole Scherzinger serves up the follow-up “On the Rocks.” On the powerhouse ballad, produced by Tricky Stewart and The-Dream, the former Pussycat Doll laments about a failed relationship and the way to get over it—by pouring up a stiff drink.

“Let’s take a shot, since you’ve been taking shots / And allow me to serve you this drink up on the rocks,” she sings.

Nicole is working with executive producers Tricky Stewart and The-Dream on the follow-up to her 2011 debut Killer Love, which will be released in the U.S. on Epic Records.

“For the first time in my career I feel like this album is me, it’s real,” she said. “It’s a very personal album for me. It is a reflection of the woman I am, the woman I am not, and the woman I want to be.”

Put the chorus melody on the verses and remove the autotune. This would be perfect.

    Unfortunately, it’s not strong.

This sounds very generic. If she wants something to FINALLY launch her solo career, this is not it. I personally liked “Your Love” though. It was a catchy summer song but it wasn’t promoted in the U.S. for some off reason???

I like it. It has a nice melody and the irony in the lyrics makes up for a great balance with the immersive production. Nicole has a good one on her hands with this one.

i NEVER seen a lead singer of a group continuously flop so hard without the other members

@wow, its because there’s nothing commercial about her. There;s nothing about her that would catch anyone’s attention. Unfortunately for her, at best she’s just mediocre. It’s crazy to because she has always had a major label behind her, but nothing ever comes from it. PCD was her only shot at fame, and she became to greedy with the whole situation which is why ever other member quit, leaving her as the last member until she finally tried the solo thing again. I personally feel as though every other member of the group could have gotten somewhere solo. But thats just my opinion

The music industry is so F up. Instead of giving flops like Nicole all these chances, they should sign Dawn and others and give them a shot . I mean how many singles this girl has release over the last 6 years that failed and they are still funding her career just becuz she’s beautiful

@Major Sushi, Nooo, Will.I.Am should stay away from her especially since his Guetta era isn’t over yet. Thnx, but no thnx.
The problem with her is that she and her team aren’t sure in which way to go and it’s been like that for years. With her sound, with her image, everything. She is all over the place, chasing the trend instead being Nicole and trying to make it big like that. Such a shame because she has one of the strongest vocals in the music industry. I regret that and Xtina’s lack of success the most.
