Kid Cudi Calls 'Speedin' Bullet 2 Heaven' the 'Most Important Album in Existence'

  /  05.12.2016

Kid Cudi is defending Speedin’ Bullet 2 Heaven. During a lengthy Twitter tirade, the Cleveland rapper celebrated the experimental album he released late last year to mixed reviews.

Speedin’ Bullet 2 Heaven is the most important album right now in existence. In 5 years, maybe sooner, ull see its impact,” he wrote. “It was for the kids sitting at home dreaming of doing something creatively brave. Wanting to explore different musical realms.”

“Keep exploring man,” he added. “In life, in art. Just go for it. Trust me. If you don’t stand for something, you just out here. Fallin for anything. Chasing waves instead of making them. People are always gonna hate on what they dont understand. No matter what you do. So just trust you and watch what happens.”

Upon its release, SB2H was heavily criticized. Pitchfork, for instance, called it a “failure.” Complex deemed it “messy, challenging, and rough around the edges.”

The reviews weren’t all bad though. Billboard called it “an uncomfortably internal album that’s a pleasurable listen.” And AndrΓ© 3000 has said it’s “the best thing to come out in a long time.”

Last month, Cudder told Billboard that the album was “the best thing to happen” in 2015. “I haven’t talked about music,” he said. “People think I’ve been quiet because Speedin’ Bullet was a shitshow. But to me that was the best thing to happen last year. People are still talking about it. Some people hated it, but they kept talking about it.”

While he celebrates Speedin’ Bullet 2 Heaven, Cudi is hard at work on his next album, Passion, Pain, & Demon Slayin’, due this summer.
