Tory Lanez Talks 'Chixtape 5' Features, Lil Wayne Verse, & Chris Brown Joint Project

  /  11.14.2019

Chixtape 5 is almost here.

Just hours before he drops the fifth installment in his Chixtape series, Tory Lanez sat down with Rap-Up where he revealed the star-studded guest list including Snoop Dogg, Jagged Edge, Jermaine Dupri, Ludacris, The-Dream, Mýa, Trey Songz, Lloyd, Lil Wayne, Fabolous, and Ashanti.

The Toronto native flipped some of his favorite R&B songs from the early 2000s including Chris Brown’s “Take You Down” for “The Take,” which features Breezy himself.

“When me and Chris work, we just work mad fast. I didn’t think that would make the project because I didn’t think he would do it,” he said. “I didn’t think he would do it honestly and he just came out the clutch and sent it one day.”

He also assured fans that a joint project with Breezy is still on the way. They have recoded 9-10 tracks and plan to return to the studio to finish. “We could damn near put out a project right now if we wanted to,” said Tory, who toured with Chris earlier this year.

Lil Wayne and Lloyd also guest on “Thoughts,” a remake of their 2006 hit “You.” “Anytime you get a Lil Wayne verse, you always gotta just do a happy dance,” said Tory. “I didn’t even ask for that one, but it flowed in a way that it made too much sense. Culturally, it’s to an extent that I feel incredible about. I feel like this is about to be a culture shock to a lot of people.”

And there may be more Chixtapes in the future. “I definitely got enough material to keep going if I wanted to, and hopefully I will.”
