Pharrell to Open Goodtime Hotel in Miami

Pharrell Williams is getting into the hotel business.

The multi-faceted musician has announced the opening of The Goodtime, a new hotel in Miami, which he created with hospitality guru David Grutman and developer Eric Birnbaum of Dreamscape Companies.

According to Vogue, Miami’s next hotspot has been three years in the making and boasts 266 guest rooms with a third-floor pool deck, eatery, outdoor workout area, recording studio, and 45,000 sq. feet of retail space.

“It’s good vibes, good energy, good karma, good food, good music, good environment, good vibration,” said Pharrell. “Come there one way, and then you leave vibrating. We call it spiritual Wi-Fi.”

The seven-story structure, designed by renowned architect Morris Adjmi, features flouted white columns and a glass-topped breezeway with greenery.

Pharrell compared the property’s lush interior to “being in a Wes Anderson film.” “It’s like Margot Tenenbaum,” he said.

Other amenities include Strawberry Moon, an indoor-outdoor eatery serving poolside staples and Mediterranean delicacies in an Art Deco setting, and a retro lobby lounge where guests can sip on cocktails like the “Purple Rain.”

Pharrell recently purchased a $30 million waterfront estate in Coral Gables, Fla., about 30 minutes from Miami’s South Beach. “The energy here, that’s everything to me,” he said of his new home. “The weather, the water, the humidity. Some people don’t like the humidity, but I think humidity is good for the skin, and for creativity. It might rain once a day here for about 10 minutes, but that means there are lots of rainbows, and who doesn’t want that?”

The Goodtime is set to open its doors to guests in January 2021.
