On Sunday (Sept. 1) night, NLE Choppa performed at Atlanta’s The Bank as a part of the city’s Black Pride Weekend. Toward the end of his set, the Memphis artist reinforced his message that everyone deserves to be treated equally, no matter how they identify.

“A lot of motherf**kers had asked me, ‘You’re a rapper, what are you doing at a club like this?’ Well, I said, ‘F**k a n**ga. You want to know why? Every day, we wake up and fight [for] acceptance,’” Choppa said before naming characteristics like race, sexuality, weight, and hair texture.

“At the end of the day, I believe in one thing: I feel like everybody is equal no matter how they drink their water, how they eat their food, how they piss, s**t, or mother f**king sleep. So, I just want to let y’all know I’m not here for no internet,” he continued. “I’m not here for [any] extra commas. I’m not here for [any] extra views because I already got it if we’re being 100 [percent].”

Choppa has been a huge advocate for the LGBTQ+ community since April’s “S**T ME OUT 2” garnered massive love and recognition at Pride festivals. To date, the accompanying visuals have over 16 million views on YouTube. “I simply want to say thank you. [I don’t care] what’s normalized as a rapper, I was raised to f**k with who f**k with you! So, thank y’all for appreciating my craft. My music [is] for all. We do NO discrimination,” he wrote on Twitter around the same time.

The aforementioned track got a country remix featuring J.P. — the viral creator of “Bad Bitty” — in August.

In 2023, Choppa shared his eagerly awaited project, Cottonwood 2. The 22-song effort included contributions from Lil Wayne, Kevin Gates, G Herbo, Queen Naija, and more.
