Prior to the release of her new album Better, Chrisette Michele spent her spring on the road with Keyshia Cole. During part two of our interview, the “Charades” singer recalled the fun times she had on the “Woman to Woman” tour.
“Touring with Keyshia Cole was an experience I’ll never forget,” Chrisette told Rap-Up TV. “Keyshia Cole’s fans are incredibly vibrant and incredibly colorful.”
So she knew she had to bring her A-game to the stage each night. “They are very live and they make you bring your best self.”
During the last show in Oakland, Chrisette decided to play a prank on her tourmate. She disguised herself as Trinidad James in an Afro wig and joined Keyshia on stage during the portion of the show where she duets with a fan. She acted crazy and remixed the song, pretending to be the “All Gold Everything” rapper.
After revealing herself, Keyshia couldn’t stop laughing. “Long story short, that was the first time we ever hung out,” said Chrisette.
She was also approached by PETA to pose nude, but after the animal rights organization saw her wearing an animal product, they called off the shoot.
“They didn’t like the stylist’s outfit choice,” she said. “I really liked it, I wore it, and that was the end of my PETA campaign. I feel bad about it and hopefully we can work together in a different capacity.”
