Ed Sheeran Performs on 'SNL'

  /  02.12.2017

Live from New York, it’s Ed Sheeran.

The British crooner returned to “SNL” on Saturday (Feb. 11) as musical guest to perform his pair of hits, “Shape of You” and “Castle on the Hill.”

Sheeran stood in front of his live band and backup singers for both songs. Blue lights washed over the stage during “Shape” while an orange hue adorned the legendary set for “Castle.” He performed both cuts while strumming a customized acoustic guitar featuring the ÷ symbol, yet another sign that his Divide album era is upon us.

After the show, Sheeran posed for a photo with former “SNL” cast member Tracy Morgan, who played one of Beyoncé’s future twins on the show, and Alec Baldwin. Reprising his role as Donald Trump, Baldwin hosted the iconic series for a record-setting 17th time.

This was Sheeran’s second time on “Saturday Night Live.” He first performed on the show in 2014.

Last month, he became the first artist ever to debut two singles in the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 simultaneously with “Shape of You” at No. 1 and “Castle on the Hill” at No. 6. Now, he’s prepping the release of ÷, which is due March 3.
