Video: Cymphonique - 'Hold You Down'

  /  05.26.2017

No Limit, baby. Before dropping her No Days Off EP, Cymphonique Miller takes it back in the ’90s-inspired video for her latest single, “Hold You Down,” premiering exclusively on Rap-Up.

Sampling Rufus and Chaka Khan’s ’70s classic “Sweet Thing,” the No Limit Forever songstress—and daughter of Master P—adds her own flavor to the track. “Can’t no other do me like you do,” she sings. “Got me catching feelings, I’m so into you / You got me wanting more and more / You mean everything, I mean everything to me.”

The video matches the song’s romantic themes, with Cymphonique singing to her bae on a cloud-filled day. Whether FaceTiming, talking on the phone, or cuddling on some steps, she shows her leading man why he means so much to her.

Cymphonique keeps the settings and outfits changing throughout. But whether she’s singing on a rooftop in a FILA crop top, sporting a bandana and flannel combo in front of a chainlink fence, or camo pants and Timbs at home, the 20-year-old singer-actress keeps singing to her “Sweet Thing.”

“The visuals on there are crazy. They’re just super raw,” she tells Rap-Up. “I’m really happy with how the song turned out. It’s actually paying homage to the R&B pioneers, Chaka Khan and Mary J. Blige. If there’s one thing that I learned from my parents, it was to always know your history and never forget the classics. I think that’s how you innovate and make something new is by keeping that history alive.”

“Hold You Down,” which follows the Scott Storch-produced “Drippin,” arrives just in time for summer, but fans should expect Cymphonique’s No Days Off EP this fall.
