Kanye West Fashion Week Invite

Kanye West is ready to present his next masterpiece to the world. The creative mastermind has been quietly working on his first womenswear line, set to debut this weekend at Paris Fashion Week.

There is not much known about the spring/summer 2012 ready-to-wear collection, not even the official name. A simple white invitation went out to fashion insiders with the letters “Dw” inscribed at the top. Some have interpreted it to represent the initials of West’s mother, the late Donda West. Around 100 select individuals from all over the world were invited to witness the rapper’s vision come to life on the runway.

Mr. West has assembled a team of Central Saint Martins College graduates to assist with the designs, which are reportedly outrageous and almost unwearable. According to The Guardian, the collection is rumored to be a mix of sports luxe, Japanese samurai, and experimental knitwear and will contain gold or peach color schemes.

The trendsetting superstar, whose first foray into fashion was with the short-lived Pastelle in 2009, released a limited line of scarves based off his Dark Fantasy artwork earlier this year. He interned at Fendi one summer and called on Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci to direct the artwork for Watch the Throne.

Find out what surprises Kanye will unleash on the fashion industry when his womenswear line debuts on Saturday at 9:30 p.m.
