Rap-Up.com || Lil Wayne: ‘Rap’s Taken a Backseat to Skating’

Look out for the return of the Mixtape Weezy. Lil Wayne has reunited with DJ Drama and will release his mixtape Dedication 4 on or around August 15. The fourth installment in his Dedication series will include remixes to Ca$h Out’s “Cashin’ Out,” Chief Keef’s “I Don’t Like,” and Meek Mill and Big Sean’s “Burn.”

When he’s not in the studio, Weezy has been spending every spare moment skating (He even had a ramp built in his studio). During a phone call with Drama on Atlanta’s Hot 107.9, he spoke about putting rap on the back burner for skating, his support for his homie 2 Chainz, and what he thinks of the lawsuit Jas Prince filed against Drake’s management for unpaid royalties.

On 2 Chainz: “That’s my friend. That’s not my rap buddy. That’s my real friend. I know that guy when he didn’t know how to make no words rhyme. He’s ‘Tity baby, put it in the air’ for me. And all of a sudden this guy is killing it, he murdered the show. I was like, ‘That can’t be him up there.’ It’s weird to me.”

On his love for skating: “I picked up the skateboard and I thought it’d be a hobby and what happened is it’s a lifestyle. In order to be fully committed, you have to live that lifestyle. With these young kids now, you have to be about that life. It’s kind of putting rap on the back burner. Rap’s taken a backseat to skating.”

On taking a break: “I kinda feel like I deserve that. I feel like the fans deserve a lil’ no Wayne. I’ve been everywhere. I’ve been out on everybody’s song, I’m still on everybody’s song, my artists are doing awesome. I believe the fans deserve some peace from me. I be on my skateboard in the meantime.”

On B.G.’s 14-year prison sentence: “It’s unfortunate, but he’s a real man, he’s a soldier. He’s been through things like that before, so if anybody can handle that, he can.”

On Jas Prince claiming he is owed millions by Drake’s camp: “My first time hearing about it was yesterday. All I can say is that it’s not true. I really have no response. I’m just making a lot of money over here and it’s a lot of fun over here. My daughter is beautiful and my son’s awesome.”

UGH! I CANT REALLY TELL THAT HIS TAKING A BREAK FROM RAP…HES BEING FEATURED ALL OVER THE PLACE! HE ISNT EVEN NEEDED IN THESE FEATURES!!! THE SONGS ARE STRONG ENOUGH W/OUT HIM!
