New Music: Alicia Keys – ‘Zebras and Airplanes’

Zebras and Airplanes

In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, Alicia Keys serenades her fans with “Zebras and Airplanes,” a previously unreleased song from her Element of Freedom era. The ethereal song, which she recorded five years ago, was inspired by a painting by Chloe Early.

“I had never been overcome to write a song after seeing a painting before, but this one sent me to another place,” wrote Alicia on her website AK Vault. “I felt it! The power, the freedom, the strength to gallop and fly. And I knew right at that moment I would write a song called ‘Zebras and Airplanes’ to describe that kind of love. The whole of you—body and soul—can gallop and fly!”

She also shared a Valentine’s Day wish for her fans. “Love on yourself. Pamper yourself. Cherish yourself. Today and forever,” she said. “I wish you the kind of love that comes from within and spreads all the way out!”

Take a ride with Alicia on her magical journey.

and it sounds like a Mariah Demo!

Gotta Love all the glitter and gong in the background!
    I can’t! Flatline!
The only thing missing is a scratchy long note
    and a piano solo!

@freak, Alicia can only move up after Girl on Fire, and I think the song and its artwork are beautiful (the artwork is magnificent). If she continues on an ethereal wave type of sound, I’m here for it. Just nothing remotely reminiscent of any aspect of Girl on Fire.

@freak, Get the entire fuck out of here with this biased mess of a comment. You’re clearly not a fan of her’s, so why are you leaning attention to her?

I wish that she would collaborate with D’Angelo & Talib Kweli. Alicia’s best music has been and always will be soul. Not this pop music. A song with Sade or Anita Baker would be nice too!

Don’t know why people are not loving this song. Alicia’s voice sounds so mellow and the rhythm is so good. Anyway she did it for her fans and it is very appreciated. Of course there are going to be people who find it necessary to make evil and unnecessary comments. Don’t know why they even bother.

@facts, I thought I would point them out but I decided not to repeat the negativity. Just takes a little comprehension.
