From Aretha to Ice Cube, music’s biggest stars flocked to the nation’s capital to help celebrate African-American icons at Saturday’s taping of “BET Honors” 2014 at Warner Theatre.

Hosted by Wayne Brady, the seventh annual event honored the achievements of Aretha Franklin, Ice Cube, Berry Gordy, and others, with musical tributes from Jennifer Hudson, Tamar Braxton, Janelle Monáe, Smokey Robinson, and Karen Clarke-Sheard.

While perched on top of a piano, a cleavage-baring Mariah Carey debuted her new single “You’re Mine,” which is expected to drop later this week. After coming off stage, the pop diva received a hug from her daughter Monroe.

Tamar cozied up to husband Vincent Herbert on the red carpet and performed Diana Ross’ “Upside Down” during a tribute to Motown legend Berry Gordy.

“I can NOT lie @bethonors was just about as #EPIC as the BEST NIGht EVER!!” tweeted the “Braxton Family Values” star.

J-Hud serenaded Aretha Franklin, Ludacris saluted fellow rapper-turned-actor Ice Cube, and Janelle Monáe brought the house down with an electrifying set.

“BET Honors” will air on Monday, February 24, at 9 p.m.
