Video: Ed Sheeran - 'Castle on the Hill'

  /  01.23.2017

On the heels of breaking chart records with “Shape of You” and “Castle on the Hill,” Ed Sheeran releases the coming-of-age video for the latter track off his upcoming third album ÷.

Filmed on location in the pop superstar’s hometown of Framlingham in Suffolk, England, the George Belfield-directed clip is a trip down a foggy memory lane. It even features a Sheeran doppelgänger, who attends the singer’s former high school.

It’s the perfect visual backdrop for a song as reflective as this. “When I was six years old, I broke my leg,” Sheeran sings, while his look-alike sprints across a field. “I was running from my brother and his friends.”

Sheeran appears in the clip, almost as a narrator might, with the visual showing younger Ed, hanging out with friends, drinking beer, and smoking all around his hometown.

The video arrives shortly after the British crooner became the first artist to debut two songs simultaneously in the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Shape of You” at No. 1 and “Castle on the Hill” at No. 6. The songs have gone on to accrue approximately 370 million streams combined worldwide.

Executive produced by Benny Blanco and Ed himself, ÷ is due March 3 and is now available for pre-order.
