Vic Mensa Joins JAY-Z's '4:44 Tour'

After calling Vic Mensa a “once-in-a-lifetime artist,” JAY-Z has enlisted the Roc Nation MC to open his “4:44 Tour” this fall.

Mensa will be joining all 30 dates on the forthcoming jaunt, which is slated to kick off Oct. 27 in Anaheim, Calif. From there, the trek will run across North America, before wrapping Dec. 21 at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif.

The tour comes in support of Hov’s critically-lauded album 4:44, which became his 14th No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Now, it will also help Mensa promote his debut The Autobiography.

In July, Hov showered the rising rapper with praise. “Vic is a very special talent,” he said during an L.A. showcase. “He can do everything. Sing well, rap well, he even engineers himself sometimes. He’s an incredible artist, like a once-in-a-lifetime artist.”

This was particularly meaningful for Mensa, who grew up idolizing Jigga. “Before I ever met him, I felt like I knew him very well,” he told Rap-Up in July. “He really is the guy from his music, so I guess I did. I bought The Blueprint on CD…and was non-stop repeat listening to that on a Walkman. Hov’s music is a real representation of him.”

Prior to joining JAY-Z’s tour, Mensa was set to open for Justin Bieber on his “Stadium World Tour” before it was canceled.
