Jennifer Hudson Splits with Fiancé David Otunga

Jennifer Hudson and her fiancé David Otunga of “I Love New York” and WWE fame have ended their relationship of nearly 10 years in a tumultuous manner.

Hudson has reportedly been granted a restraining order against Otunga, the father of their 8-year-old son David Jr. She claims that the former professional wrestler has exhibited “aggressive, threatening and harassing behavior” and that he has intimidated her with a firearm, according to TMZ, allegations that Otunga denies.

In legal documents, Hudson claims that Otunga asked their son to film the scene at a recording studio, where he believed Hudson was dating one of her producers. When she got home, she says that Otunga grabbed their son by the hand and physically pushed Hudson out of their master suite with a makeup artist and an assistant there to witness the incident.

Hudson also claims that Otunga left a gun on their kitchen counter at one point. Although he says it was a movie prop, she believes that he had other motives. “David knows that I am and have been very sensitive to firearms after my mother and my brother were murdered by a firearm,” she says in court docs. “I believe that he left it out to taunt, intimidate and frighten me, which he absolutely accomplished.”

Honoring Hudson’s restraining order, law enforcement officials reportedly removed Otunga from the family home, which is owned by the superstar singer.

Reports and sources indicate that Hudson and Otunga broke up several months ago. However, Otunga remained in their home while the couple worked out a custody agreement, with each parent asking for primary physical custody. Negotiations have reportedly been dismantled during this process.

Otunga’s attorney, Tracy Rizzo, says that allegations against the former reality television star are untrue. “David Otunga has been trying to negotiate the terms of an amicable parenting agreement with Ms. Hudson for several weeks now,” said Rizzo. “However, when it became apparent to Ms. Hudson that Mr. Otunga would be the parent granted residential care of the child, as a result of Mr. Otunga being the child’s primary caregiver while Ms. Hudson pursues her career all over the world, Ms. Hudson decided to file a meritless Petition for Order of Protection in an effort to gain an unfair advantage in the custody dispute.

“As a result of Mr. Otunga’s career in the WWE, Ms. Hudson felt that she could give an award winning performance in court to portray herself as the victim,” Rizzo added. “Mr. Otunga has never abused or harassed Ms. Hudson or their son.”

Hudson and Otunga were engaged in 2008 after dating for less than a year. They welcomed their son in 2009, but were never officially married.
