Pooh Shiesty Sentenced to 63 Months in Gun Case

Pooh Shiesty was sentenced to five years and three months in prison for his gun conspiracy conviction.

The 22-year-old Memphis rapper, whose real name is Lontrell Donell Williams Jr., was indicted in June 2021 on four counts in connection to an October 2020 shooting outside a Florida hotel. According to Rolling Stone, prosecutors alleged Williams accepted a bag of marijuana and examined a pair of sneakers before he pulled out a weapon and fired, hitting the alleged victim in the buttocks.

Williams reached a plea deal with prosecutors and pleaded guilty to a single charge of conspiracy to possess a firearm in furtherance of violent and drug-trafficking crimes. On Wednesday, a judge in Miami Federal Court sentenced him to 63 months in prison.

Three other charges against the “Back in Blood” rapper were dropped, including one that alleged that Williams fired the weapon himself, which would have resulted in a much longer prison sentence.

Williams, who was facing up to 97 months in prison, was “happy” with the decision.

“Listen, nobody’s happy to go to prison, but he was happy the judge listened to our argument, and the judge received the argument well. He was satisfied with the outcome,” said his lawyer, Bradford Cohen. “We’re happy with the decision of the court.”

The judge gave Williams credit for the year he’s already spent in custody. With credit for good behavior, Williams could be out in about three-and-a-half more years.

Shiesty, who is signed to Gucci Mane’s 1017 Records, released his debut mixtape Shiesty Season in February 2021 featuring appearances from Lil Durk, 21 Savage, and Gucci. He has also collaborated with artists including Jack Harlow and Coi Leray.
