New Music: Prince - 'Baltimore'

  /  05.09.2015

In response to the violence that has gripped Baltimore and other parts of the U.S., Prince honors those whose lives were lost and cries out for justice on “Baltimore.” On the upbeat tribute song, which was recorded at Prince’s Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minn., the music icon leads the march for peace.

“Does anybody hear us pray / 4 Michael Brown or Freddie Gray? / Peace is more than the absence of war,” sings Prince before chanting, “If there ain’t no justice, then there ain’t no peace.”

In addition to a guitar solo from Prince, singer Eryn Allen Kane graces the track with her angelic vocals.

On Sunday, Prince and 3RDEYEGIRL will perform the song during a free “Rally 4 Peace” concert at Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore in honor of Freddie Gray and those who have lost their lives as a result of police brutality.
