Sneak Peek: Snoop Dogg feat. Pharrell & Stevie Wonder - 'California Roll'

  /  05.19.2015

Just when you thought big-budget music videos were a thing of the past, Snoop Dogg gets his George Lucas on in the cinematic video for “California Roll.” The West Coast legend makes a movie complete with an all-star cast including Pharrell Williams, Stevie Wonder, and Nia Long. In the futuristic clip, inspired by Disney’s motion simulator Star Tours, Snoop and Pharrell bring Cairo to Hollywood. They stand on top of gold pyramids, and Snoop introduces us to his own R2-D2, a robot named Canubis 420.

“Because it was three superstars I was aiming for ‘event video’ vibes,” director Warren Fu told Noisey. “The kind of pop culture thing like when MJ would shut down prime time for his premieres. My initial concept was a spin on Star Tours. It was Pharrell’s idea to make the LA futuristic-Egyptian hybrid, and Snoop’s idea to make the actual ride take place in the ’40s—which then takes them on a journey into the future.”

Snoop’s feature film doesn’t premiere until tomorrow, but you can watch the trailer below.
