Jay Z takes on the war on drugs.

Hov, an admitted former drug dealer, writes and narrates an artful short film entitled “The War on Drugs Is an Epic Fail,” which debuted via The New York Times.

Featuring illustrations by Molly Crabapple, the piece is produced and directed by Jim Batt and Kim Boekbinder. It is also produced by Dream Hampton.

“Rates of drug use are as high as they were when [President] Nixon declared this so-called war on drugs in 1971,” explains Jigga. “Forty-five years later, it’s time to rethink our policies and laws. The war on drugs is an epic fail.”

The film already has some big fans, including John Legend, who backed the project on Twitter.
