Dave Chappelle Finally Meets 'Making the Band's' Dylan
Hot fiyah! One of Dave Chappelle’s most beloved “Chappelle’s Show” skits came to life recently, when the comedian met “Making the Band’s” Dylan Dilinjah at the House of Vans: Dave Chappelle’s Party on Friday (Aug. 11).
Backstage at the event, Dylan and Dave were all smiles, as they talked about the five hottest MCs in the game: “Dylan, Dylan, Dylan, Dylan, and Dylan.” Why? “‘Cause he spits hot fiyah!”
Taking to Instagram, Dylan shared the video with his followers. “For those who grew up watching me…you know how epic and amazing this was. My first time meeting [Dave Chappelle].”

The skit in question was based on MTV’s “Making the Band,” which was hosted by Diddy. The hip-hop and R&B-based competition series was spoofed on “Chappelle’s Show” with the Dylan line being one of its most quoted over the years.
But Dylan’s recent meeting with Chappelle also worked as promo for his forthcoming LP, Pain 2 Power, which is due Sept. 15. “My album is coming Sep 15th,” he wrote. “I guess the stars lined up at the perfect time. Bless up to @wyclefjean @diddy and everyone else I reunited with this year. Now let’s move forward. You get it now? #pain2Power.”
Meanwhile, Chappelle is set to continue his Radio City Music Hall residency through Aug. 24.
