Mariah Carey to Be Honored at VH1's 'Hip Hop Honors'

  /  09.11.2017

Mariah Carey and hip-hop go back like babies with pacifiers.

The music icon will be honored at VH1’s “Hip Hop Honors: The ’90s Game Changers,” celebrating her groundbreaking hip-hop collaborations, including “Fantasy (Remix)” with Ol’ Dirty Bastard, “Honey (Bad Boy Remix)” with The Lox and Ma$e, and “Heartbreaker” with JAY-Z.

Hosted by actress Regina Hall, the show will feature a performance from former honoree Missy Elliott. Comedian/actor Martin Lawrence will also be honored at this year’s show for his work in stand-up, movies, and television.

The ’90s-style block party will take place on Sept. 17 at Paramount Studios in Hollywood and premiere on Sept. 18 at 9 p.m. “Game Changers” is also set to recognize the victims of the hurricanes that have devastated the country.

VH1’s “Hip Hop Honors” has taken place eight times since 2004. It was an annual show up until 2010, when it went on a six-year hiatus. Last year, it returned to honor Queen Latifah, Salt-N-Pepa, Lil’ Kim, and two-time honoree, Missy Elliott, who was also celebrated in 2007.
