New Music: The-Dream - 'Code Blue'

  /  02.09.2017

On the heels of Nicki Minaj and Nick Jonas’ bedroom-ready banger “Bom Bidi Bom,” The-Dream unleashes “Code Blue,” another selection off Fifty Shades Darker’s forthcoming soundtrack.

This one, however, takes a blue tone, providing a somber backdrop for the film and series’ more heartbreaking scenes. “The closer I get to you,” sings King Dream. “The more I feel like crying / The farther I get from you, the more I feel like dying.”

Later on the track, the celebrated singer/songwriter goes into a mysteriously dark zone. “As we walk into those doors in the shadows of the unknown,” he sings. “I think of you daily, loving everything about you.”

There’s more in store from the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack, which also features Sia (“Helium”), John Legend (“One Woman Man”), and Taylor Swift and Zayn (“I Don’t Wanna Live Forever”). The film, starring Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, and co-starring Luke Grimes and Rita Ora, is due in theaters tomorrow (Feb. 10).

The-Dream is definitely going to watch the flick. “Can’t wait to see the ‘Code Blue’ Scene from Fifty Shades Darker Tonight,” he tweeted. “Who’s with me?”

Meanwhile, The-Dream is hitting the road on his “Love You to Death Tour,” which starts next week. The run, in support of his Love You to Death EP, kicks off Feb. 13 in Seattle and runs through March 2 in Philadelphia. His next album, Love Affair, will drop shortly after that, on March 24.
