Ludacris to Host 'Fear Factor' Reboot

  /  04.12.2017

Ludacris and MTV are about to “Roll Out” their very own version of “Fear Factor.”

A 12-episode reboot, hosted and executive produced by the “Vitamin D” rapper, is set to kick off May 30 at 10 p.m. It’s the first project in a new deal between Chris Bridges and the network.

“I am excited to kick off my partnership with MTV, starting with the relaunch of ‘Fear Factor,’ which will be even more insane and ludicrous than what you remember,” Luda told The Hollywood Reporter. “This will be the first of many great projects together.”

This iteration of “Fear Factor” will reportedly replace nasty challenges like worm eating with “fresh physical stunts and mental challenges, relevant to today’s culture,” like water logging cell phones. Each episode will reportedly feature eight teams of two, battling it out for a $50,000 cash prize.

MTV’s reboot comes from Endemol Shine North America, the same company that produced the original, which debuted on NBC in 2001. It will also retain the original show’s executive producers, Anthony Carbone and Kevin Wehrenberg.

“MTV is about celebrating youth culture, and with the reinvented ‘Fear Factor,’ we are putting the power in our audience’s hands to face and overcome their biggest fears,” said MTV president Chris McCarthy. “We are thrilled to partner with Ludacris, one of the biggest global stars who has a rich history with MTV, to energize this franchise for a whole new generation.”

Ludacris has a lot on his plate. This weekend, he returns to the big screen as part of The Fate of the Furious. He is also set to voice a character in the upcoming comedy Show Dogs.
