Rich the Kid Unleashes Lil Uzi Vert Diss 'Dead Friends'

  /  03.26.2018

Shots fired. Rich the Kid takes aim at Lil Uzi Vert with his highly-anticipated diss track “Dead Friends.”

Over DJ Mustard’s head-knocking instrumental, Rich raps about MCs who “change for fame” in this “sad game.” He also references Uzi’s “XO Tour Llif3” and “Money Longer” in the process.

“All them dead friends,” he raps. “You a middleman / You a lil’ man / Your money gettin’ shorter.”

The feud appears to stem from a January Twitter exchange. After Uzi complained about his label Generation Now, Rich advised: “That’s why you SHOULDA signed Rich forever.” Uzi replied: “Boy I’m not signing for 20racks.” Rich appears to reference that on this song, too. “Come to Rich Forever,” he raps. “Be a star.”

Rich confirmed the diss track on Beats 1. “I’m just letting people know how money [changes] people and how I stay with the money,” he said. “It’s funny. I’m just waiting to see if he’s going to reply back. You know you can’t write better than me though.”

“Dead Friends” is set to appear on Rich the Kid’s hotly-anticipated debut, The World Is Yours, which is due March 30. The album is set to feature the platinum Kendrick Lamar-assisted hit “New Freezer,” plus appearances from Future, Offset, Quavo, and Khalid.
