Usher Debuts New Permed Hairstyle
Usher is kicking off the new year with a new look.
The R&B crooner debuted a ’50s-inspired permed hairstyle, which he sported for a Rat Pack-themed New Year’s bash. He fully committed to the retro theme, rocking a fur coat over a tweed suit while driving an old school Cadillac through Beverly Hills.
Taking to Instagram Stories, Usher showed off several outfit options for the big night and documented the process to achieve the pompadour look, starting with inspiration photos before his stylist curled his hair with an iron and touched it off with some hairspray.

It didn’t take long for his new look to go viral. Social media had some fun at his expense, putting his face on the box of SoftSheen-Carson Dark and Lovely hair relaxer. “Y’all funny, but I see you talking,” said Usher, who reposted the meme. “Stay tuned!”

Despite the jokes, Usher was confident about his new hairstyle. “This ain’t going nowhere. I can’t stop touching it! I’m like the black Superman!” he joked on Instagram Live.
On Friday (Dec. 28), the newly-single singer and his estranged wife Grace Miguel officially filed for divorce following three years of marriage. The filing comes nine months after they announced their split in March.
