J. Cole to Play for Rwanda Patriots in Basketball Africa League

J. Cole is making his hoop dreams a reality.

The rapper, 36, is expected to join the Rwanda Patriots BBC in the inaugural season of the Basketball Africa League, sources tell The Undefeated.

Cole arrived in Rwanda over the weekend and is currently quarantining in order to play in the 12-team league. He will reportedly make his debut on Sunday against Nigeria’s Rivers Hoopers and play between three and six games with the Patriots.

J. Cole played basketball at Sanford High School in North Carolina and was a walk-on at St. John’s University, but he ultimately decided to pursue a music career and never appeared in a Division I game.

Last year, Master P revealed that the Dreamville boss was training for a professional career in basketball and had turned to him for advice. “He’s been showing people that he’s consistent and he’s been in the gym,” the No Limit mogul told TMZ.

J. Cole’s signing with the Patriots is expected to become official Thursday on the eve of the release of his sixth studio album The Off-Season.
