Despite earlier reports, a public memorial service for Michael Jackson won’t be held at his Neverland Ranch in Santa Barbara County on Friday, nor will he be buried there.
“Contrary to previous news reports, the Jackson family is officially stating that there will be no public or private viewing at Neverland. Plans are underway regarding a public memorial for Michael Jackson, and we will announce those plans shortly,” the family said in a statement.
Neverland will not be the King of Pop’s final resting place either. Despite a pledge by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to help clear state bureaucratic hurdles, county officials were unable to avoid burial restrictions at a private residence.
