New Music: Quincy Jones f/ T-Pain & Robin Thicke – ‘P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)’

Quincy Jones, T-Pain, and Robin Thicke

Twenty-seven years after the original was released, the legendary Quincy Jones updates his production on the classic Michael Jackson cut “P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing),” enlisting T-Pain and Robin Thicke to take on vocal duties for the fallen King of Pop. Teddy P. dishes a healthy dose of Auto-Tune while Thicke adds some soulful flare to the electrified tune, included on Jones’ star-studded tribute album Q: Soul Bossa Nostra (due Nov. 9).

I LOVE it! I an respect a fun remake, unlike the other nostalgia freaks in here. It’s not like the original song is harmed in any way, if you don’t like the tribute, don’t listen to it. Quincy is happy, that’s all that matters.

I don’t have a problem with remakes but T-Pain ruined this song, with his oversung autotune warbling. They should’ve either got someone who can really sing like Chris Brown or Trey Songz, or just let Robin do the whole thing, because he kilt it. The girl did too, whoever she was…

Quincy Jones you should be ashamed of yourself. After watching “this is it”..it is clear that Michael’s level of artistry is miles above everyone elses. He wanted everything to be perfect. As a result, I really don’t think his music should be touched unless he gives his approval…which can’t happen…so it just shouldn’t be touched. IMO

@Dillon_68: is the 68 in your name your birth year? if it is, you should be ashamed that you gave this song a nod. You were around for MJ in his prime.
T-Pain should’ve respected the man enough to say no to polluting a classic with his voice.

I haven’t even listened to it yet, but WTF? Why on earth would you remake P.Y.T.? Why oh why is T-Pain on this? If it was just Robin then I wouldn’t have minded it.

its a remake. to be interpreted in a new way and for artists to make it their own. its not about being better than the original or disrespecting it. MJ was all about the fun and enjoyment of music. Why can’t we just all do the same?

I respect this remake, although it´s not my style! ;) It´s more something for the youngsters, who dance in discos. The original P.Y.T. is more my style, because I´ve grew up, with this kind of music, which Michael has made. Nevertheless, I am not averse, to listen also newer music. I respect all works, the musicans do, because it´s a hard job!
*Nevertheless, we will love you Michael forever & ever, your beautiful soul & heart & your loving music, which has touched all humans hearts!* #MJLOVE
