Miguel took on his labelmate Britney Spears for Billboard’s “Mashup Mondays.” The R&B crooner covered the pop superstar’s hit “Hold It Against Me,” flipping the dance-pop track into a soul-drenched rock jam that’s almost unrecognizable.
“The ‘Hold It Against Me’ record is a song I heard and I remember hearing the dubstep portion towards the end. I was like, ‘This is kind of fly.’ As soon as we got the call that we could possibly be covering a song that was current, that was the the first song that popped in my head,” said Miguel. “I’m not sure what Britney’s reaction is going to be, but hopefully she digs it.”
Watch him perform his own single “Sure Thing” below.
ummm…his britney cover is amazing. love the original as well though too. can’t wait for britney’s album tomorrow.
one thing i have a hard time getting use to is miguel’s image- it seems super forced- like the shades, the same hair cut as usher, all this space age shit that he be doing doesn’t seem authentic.
yet & still, he has a good voice. i just hope that his image could be better developed. cause nowadays that can make or break you.
@jeremydante, wait! going back to those sunglasses- they hella look like the 3-D glasses you get at the movies. like, what the fuck- that’s what im saying that shit looks cheap.

I NEED this from a lot of singers. Not just the fact that he did his thing on Britney’s song, but when he performed Sure Thing it sounded like he gave his all. More current performers need to do that.
LOVE HIM! Pure talent, enough said his voice is so smooth and rich and he sings SO effortleslly and yes, sure thing is one of my favs too, next to “Teach Me”! He gives me a young version of Prince alot of the time, he’s def on his way and I will def be supporting him on his way up. xoxoxoxox
SN: Could you imagine him and Beyonce doing a duet together? I think that would be PURE FIRE……….
Aside from having one of the dopest albums out right now “All I Want Is You” Newcomer Miguel, Recently performed at the Pray For Pop party at the Pure Volume House during SXSW. Check it out And if you haven’t picked up your copy, head over to….
