Rap-Up.com || Rihanna Rocks Capital FM’s Jingle Bell Ball [Video]

Rihanna was the belle of Capital FM’s 2011 Jingle Bell Ball over the weekend. The Barbados beauty, who is nominated for Album of the Year at the 2012 Grammys, headlined Day 1 of the two-day holiday festival at London’s O2 Arena. RiRi opened her set with “Only Girl (In the World)” and closed with her latest hit “We Found Love,” sporting the same blonde wig she wore on set of her “You Da One” video. I saw this, she was awful, worst performer of the night hands down. She was out of tune, she was miming at one point, then they were playing the backing track & she was singing out of tune. She’s a really stiff dancer too. I wasn’t impressed. Her 15 minutes are almost up.

@Jay, I REALLY REALLY hate to say this because I am a huge Rihanna fan but there was something terribly wrong with this performance! She was off beat, she was mumbling through the songs at one point, her higher notes were awful and the dancing was terrible! I love Rih but she needs to take a break and have some rest. She’s been on tour since June and she seems extremely tired and hopeless. She needs to take some vocal lessons so she sounds better live. And maybe she should STOP releasing albums so fast (every November) and actually give an album some good promotion! Yes I like Rihanna but she doesn’t sound very good LIVE anymore like she used to! :(

I agree with you in the sense that the music industry is going to the crapper…but to Rihanna’s defense, when she tried singing on Loud (which was good for her range), she didn’t really get the cred that I think she should’ve got. Just my opinion.

I would def put her in the same category as Janet, Madonna, and other artists who are more entertainers than singers…but I’m hoping that she can take from them and get a more organized show. I don’t understand why they haven’t given her a choreographer…because she CAN dance, she’s just probably more familiar with the dances from her island.

She should capitalize on that…I’m not worried about her voice. Not all musicians can sing…but she should take some time to improve and enhance her stage presence. It wouldn’t hurt her.

Get her a choreographer and I bet she would kill it on stage and please, for her cause just LET HER LIP SYNC because she is NOT A VOCALIST. Her voice is so strained when she *tries* to perform live. I remember I watched a performance she did of “Pon Da Replay” back in 2005 and that was actually the best performance I’ve ever seen from her. She was dancing, she was *attempting* to sing and she was interacting with the crowd pretty well. Now she just walks around, looks like an idiot (especially with that blonde wig), and sounds like a HOT MESS. #whatajoke.

I honestly don’t think Rihanna was meant for this; she just gets really lucky and finds the right people to work with that give her #1 hits and tweak her voice in the studio. If she was good live it would be a whole different story but she just IS NOT a performer by any means. I have yet to see a performance by her that leaves me thinking, “damn that was awesome!”…and this performance was just BAD. Like laughable BAD.

What Rihanna is doing right now is fulfilling her tour commitments or contract of 102 days of touring. Many says she looks and sounds tired, i think she would be after a 95 days of touring. However, Rihanna cannot just pull out of her tour duties because she’s tired. She has to complete her schedule tour dates & appearances in between then take a break which will be used to promote Talk That Talk meaning interviews.

I admire & respect Rihanna because even though she’s exhausted she’s still executing her duties as an artist & pleasing fans Globally! So you can bitch & moan all you want but she’s bringing in that phat cheque, pleasing her fans, continuing to create history within her artistry one step at a time, & fulfilling her own dreams at the very young age of 23. How many of you can say you’re fulfilled at that age?…

I’m the biggest Rihanna fan out there but truth is truth … this wasn’t Rihanna’s best performance. Her vocals were off and her dance moves were a bit mediocre. But she has done better. I’ve seen her live at the live tour she is definitely an amazing signer and dancer. Hopefully she was just drunk. But to say she has bad album sales and the reign has let up is dumb of you. Because TTT is #1 on iTunes in numerous countries. She’s sold thousands of albums before it eve dropped (pre-orders) and she still stands at a high rank on the charts. Please come correct. Thanks
